ABOUT

ABOUT

Rest Harrow is a family self-catering holiday home 200m from the beach at Trebarwith Strand, near Tintagel, North Cornwall. This four bedroom detached bungalow offers the opportunity to spend time in a home filled with paintings by a local artist, family photographs and memorabilia for families looking for an “Enid Blyton experience" or more mature couples hoping to “get away from it all”.  Visitors will appreciate that the house is not just a “holiday let” but is a family home the members of which are to be found, at various ages, in the photographs lining the stairs. (Who’s Who will be found in the Visitors’ Information Folder.) The contents of the house reflects this in its various ornaments and “objets d’art” – each of which has a story to tell – and in the large and eclectic collection of books. Dogs are welcome.

The House

THE HOUSE

Separated from the road by a small stream the front veranda is accessed by a short flight of steps. A toilet, bathroom, kitchen and sitting room open off the front hall. Stairs lead to an upper floor containing three bedrooms (two twin and a single) together with a combined toilet/shower. Double doors in the kitchen open out to a patio facing east. A master double bedroom - with en-suite shower and toilet, a small study and a sea-facing veranda lead from the sitting room which has an open fire.

Description

DESCRIPTION

Living Areas

The ground floor sitting room has an open fireplace (fuel not provided), and comfortable seating. There is a television set and DVD player but no television reception. (But you did not come to Trebarwith to watch TV!) There are plenty of books, both fiction and nonfiction, DVDs, music CDs and even some audio cassettes – together with a HiFi unit and quadraphonic sound system. A small study containing a Wifi hub is next to the sitting room.

Facilities

Rest Harrow is heated by electricity (the cost included in the rent). A Broadband hub is available free of charge. The cost of telephone calls is advised by a “Duration and Cost” call back and an honesty box is provided.

Dogs are welcome

Car Parking

There is parking for three cars

Kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped including an electric cooker with a ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and a large frig/freezer.

There is a washing machine and tumble drier in what may loosely be called the “utility room” but more colloquially known as “the back yard”.

Eating

Meals may be taken in the kitchen, the sitting room or the front veranda, or outside on the patio which has a gas-fired BBQ.

Garden

The garden faces south and consists of two grassed and one paved terrace. There is also a stream-side terrace downstream and what can be best described as a wild rockery upstream.

Bedrooms

Rest Harrow can accommodate up to seven people comfortably in four bedrooms. (A folding Z-bed is under the stairs and a camp bed and inflatable mattress may be found in the airing cupboard.) There is a king size double bed in the master bedroom on the ground floor with an en-suite shower and toilet. As the rooms upstairs have been created in the bungalow roof space there can be limited head room! There are twin beds in a sea-facing bedroom, a small single bedroom and two single beds in the third narrow bedroom.

Bed linen is provided but bring your own towels.

Bathrooms

There is a ground floor bathroom with over-bath shower; a toilet/shower room upstairs and an en-suite shower and toilet off the master bedroom.
